The Auburn University women’s soccer team won the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2015-16 academic year. The Tigers received the award for the 12th consecutive season under head coach Karen Hoppa.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player’s GPA, then dividing by the number of players on the roster.
Auburn recorded a mark of 3.40 during the academic year and was near the top of the 578 programs to receive the award. The Tigers have 16 players on the current roster who received academic distinction last season, including NSCAA and CoSIDA Academic All-American Casie Ramsier.
Other Alabama colleges earning the award include UAB, Jacksonville State, Troy University, and University of West Alabama women’s teams. UAB, Auburn-Montgomery, and University of Montevallo earned it for the men’s teams.
